Center for Digital Transformation

Center for Digital Transformation

To strengthen IT, GIS, and New-age Technologies-led development process, Taru has established the 'Center for Digital Transformation’. Through information technology and geospatial analysis, the Center seeks to generate intelligent and spatial data, develop software for tracking and monitoring data, and undertake in-depth research to quantify risk levels and associated causal factors.

The Center, in particular, maps out and delineates hazard-prone areas and prepares a matrix on ranking & probability of disaster/climate episodes. The Center is geared towards providing solutions to natural and technological hazards, thus enabling real-time data as a basis for optimal risk management solutions. It also enables vulnerability assessment and risk reduction through data analysis and mapping. The Center has supported numerous projects in preparing GIS maps at national, state, district, and city levels in various sectors, including flood, heatwaves, earthquakes, etc.

The Centre has also been involved in developing many MIS software, apps, websites, and other web-based solution with an objective to provide cutting-edge solutions. For example, the Urban Services Monitoring System (UrSMS) in Surat, developed by Taru, has been selected as a “Project to Watch” in the Big Data Climate Challenge competition at the United Nations. Taru led the development of a comprehensive flood early warning system in Kolkata to address the urban flooding issues through IoT powered system and web-platform and app to collect and analyze the data, which is available at https://www.kflood.in
